Creating Space
If I come outside whether on my veranda or out on the kitchen porch and my kids don’t know, a lot of times I can have just a few minutes by myself. It’s a moment where it’s really quiet and rejuvenating.
I can refill and relax. I can soak up a bit of sun and fresh air and just calm my mind for a bit. I can get a moment that is mine. Then my kids figure out I am out here and they come and join me.
It is also great when they do, it’s just not the same type use of my moment. One point of wisdom I believe in, really deeply, is creating space for things that you want and love.
I have 2 chair swings here and one is usually empty now that Grant is gone, but sometimes I have someone special in my life join me for a visit. This one I am in is the one I usually sit in.
As I have contemplated the life I want to have and created space for remembering what I had, I am able to direct my attention and efforts to making my life intentional.
I hold space for myself because I want and need to be at my best for my happiness and for my role as the mother and only parent for my children. It’s a given in my world to also take care of me.
And for my children, I hold space for them, to love them, be with them during their days and to teach them while they grow. I protect them as best I can and support them learning what they need to carry out their own lives.
What do you hold space for in your life?
